New Feature: Link One-Off Products to Inventory Items
Sometimes real life doesn’t follow the order guide.
A last-minute supplier substitute.
An extra item tacked onto the delivery.
Or a quick dash to the local shop because you’ve run out of milk mid-service.
You still need to record the cost… but you also need your stock to stay accurate.
That’s exactly what this update fixes.
🧾 A quick reminder: One-Off Products
We previously introduced One-Off Products so you can add items that don’t exist in your catalogue.
Perfect for:
Supplier substitutions
Emergency purchases
Ad-hoc or non-standard items
Just click the arrow in the catalogue search and add your one-off line.
…but there was one catch.
⚠️ The problem
Historically, one-off items didn’t create stock movements.
So while:
✅ Your invoice totals were correct
❌ Your stock levels weren’t
Buy 2 litres of milk?
Your cost goes up… but your stock stays the same.
Which means stocktakes show annoying variances later.
✨ What’s new: Link to Inventory Items for One-Off Products
Now you can link a One-Off Product directly to an Inventory Item.
When adding your one-off line, simply:
Choose which Inventory Item it should affect
Enter how much stock to increase
Hops will:
Add the stock
Record the value
Include it in GP
Keep your stocktake aligned
Everything lines up. Nice and clean.
🙌 Don’t want it in stock?
No problem.
If it shouldn’t affect inventory (e.g. delivery fees, sundries, services), just mark it as Unlinked and we’ll leave stock alone.
You’re always in control.
⏳ When can I link it?
You can update the link any time up until the order is processed into stock, so there’s plenty of opportunity to get things right.
